My situation is a bit different from most people here, so I am hoping someone has been through the same thing. I drive a company Toyota Corolla that I use around the ICAD area for site visits, but at night and on weekends it sits in a gravel lot behind our office. The car is not mine, my company pays for it, and my manager said I can add something to protect it if I cover the cost myself. I am not sure it is worth the money. The paint is still in good shape, but gravel trucks pass me all day and I already see a few light marks on the bumper. A friend who works in logistics told me to look into film, and when I searched for check here https://paintprotectionfilm.ae/what-is-paint-protection-film . I mostly found pages that sounded like adverts, so I came here instead. My first question is simple. If the car is going back to the company in two years, is it smart to spend my own money on it? Would a small area like the bumper and the lower door edges be enough, since that is where most of the marks are? I also wonder how film handles a gravel lot. If dust and stones keep hitting the car while it is parked, does the film scratch, or does it do its job? Another thing is the edges. Do they pick up dirt or lift if the car is washed only with a hose and a cloth? So, if I do this and my company later wants to change the car, can the film be removed cleanly, and does the shop charge for that? I would also like to know how long a small job like this takes, and if I can keep using the car during the day. If you protect a work car that you do not own, please tell me what you covered, what you paid, and if you think it was worth it.
